(In honor of Ian Santino)
In keeping with Ian Santino’s love of trees and his request for efforts in his honor to support the planting of native trees, donations are being collected to plant two native river birch trees in Ian’s memory in the Healing Garden at Simpson Garden Park. These trees will provide some much-needed shade in the Healing Garden and create a more comforting place for visitors to pray or meditate.
While Ian most recently lived in Wisconsin attending graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he lived in Bowling Green for many years and worked at both Simpson Garden Park and volunteered at Wintergarden Park for the BG Parks and Recreation Department.
Checks should be made payable to the BG Parks & Recreation Foundation with “Ian Santino Memorial” on the memo line, and can be sent to The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Foundation, 1291 Conneaut Ave., Bowling Green, 43402, c/o Cheryl Witt. Cash donations and checks may be dropped off at that same address between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Donations to the BG Parks & Recreation Foundation can also be made through PayPal.
