Donnel D. Blausey, age 99, of Pemberville, OH passed away at his daughter and son-in-law’s home Friday, September 9, 2016. He was born on April 25, 1917 in Gibsonburg, OH to William and Florence (Baker) Blausey. On February 4, 1946 he married Coleen M. Pollard in Bowling Green, OH. Coleen would precede Donnel in death on January 22, 2012. He was a proud veteran and loved his country very much. He had been based in England during World War II as a member of the United Sates Army-Air Force. One of his life’s highlights would come later when Donnel would be able to participate in “Honor Flight” with other fellow veterans visiting the WW II War Memorial in our nation’s capital. After returning home from the war Donnel briefly continued a career in farming but then would go onto become a carpenter for Martin Lumber Company in Woodville and later joined Pemberville Lumber Company. Donnel would eventually retire in 1979 after 30 years as a carpenter with Rudolph Libbe Construction. He was a member of the Pemberville United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of The Pemberville American Legion Post #183, coached little league and was a consummate sports fan which included following OSU, The Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. He had a strong appreciation for country music and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making Barbie doll houses, doll cradles and miniature barns for his grandchildren.
Donnel is survived by his son: Larry (Shirley) Blausey of Pemberville, OH, daughter: Vickie (Mike) Samson of Pemberville, OH, daughter-in-law: Judy of Pemberville, OH, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Coleen, he was preceded in death by his parents, son: Donald Blausey, brothers: Lloyd Blausey, Dale Blausey, Billy Blausey, sisters: Garnet Hetrick and Irene Miller.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 4-7 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH, where Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11 AM where there will be an additional time of visitation from 10 AM until time of services. Officiating will be Rev. Bridgett Clark. Interment will be in Pemberville Union Cemetery, Pemberville, OH.
