From OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Interstate 475 northbound between I-75 and U.S. Route 24 will be fully closed beginning tonight, July 24, and through the weekend to begin pavement repair work in the Perrysburg area.

Northbound I-475 will close west of I-75 this evening, beginning after 8 p.m., and remain closed until Monday morning, July 27, at 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured using I-75 northbound to I-475 westbound to I-475 southbound.

This is the first of four in a series of weekend-long total closures of northbound I-475 for pavement joint repair and paving. The same work was performed over four weekends on southbound I-475 between early May and late June.

The southbound I-75 exit ramp to State Route 25/Dixie Highway will remain open this weekend. The following ramps will close Friday evening and reopen Monday morning:

  • Northbound I-75 to northbound I-475
  • Southbound I-75 to northbound I-475
  • State Route 25/Dixie Highway on-ramp to northbound I-475

Message boards are posted south of each interchange throughout the I-475/U.S. 23 corridor informing motorists of this event.

The repairs are part of a project that has completed resurfacing on Interstate 75 near the Perrysburg interchange, and pavement joint repairs and paving on southbound Interstate 475 from the Maumee River to I-75 in Wood County.

The repairs are necessary maintenance until a proposed project on I-475 through Perrysburg takes place. The project would widen I-475 from I-75 in Wood County to U.S. Route 24 in Lucas County to three lanes; widen and reconstruct the I-475 bridges over the CSX Railroad, Fort Meigs Road, and Maumee River; reconstruct the I-75/I-475 and I-475/U.S. 24 interchanges; and realign the I-475/SR 25 interchange.

The project is not yet funded. The earliest the project could occur is 2032.
