Highlighting good created on campus and in the community, Bowling Green State University will hold TEDxBGSU, an independently organized speaker series, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
Continuing with its theme of “For the Public Good,” this year’s free, public event is presented by the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement in collaboration with the Radbill Center for College and Life Design and the Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections and will feature 20 speakers from around the BGSU learning community to share innovative ideas worth spreading and inspire change.
“This year’s TEDxBGSU is sure to be engaging and inspiring for our entire learning community,” said Kendra Lutes, event organizer and associate director of the Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement at BGSU. “In addition to highlighting public good, we’re focusing this year’s event on the design thinking process to encourage our audience to be curious, reframe their experiences, collaborate, take action and share their stories.”
Featured speakers and topics for this year’s TEDxBGSU include:
- Damilare Adeyeri – Exploring how dance and movement can boost productivity and mood.
- Malik Jarrell-Miller – Discussing the importance of hearing young people and truly listening when they tell you their dreams.
- Jonathan Kershaw – Encouraging people to consider the ways in which food and potlucks can bring people from different lived experiences together.
Launched in 2009, TEDx is a program of locally organized events that bring the community together to share a TED-like experience. Some of the best talks from TEDx events have gone on to be featured on TED.com and garnered millions of views from audiences across the globe.
