Franklin W. Potts, age 97, formerly of Perrysburg, OH most recently of Pemberville, OH passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital, Maumee, OH. He was born on April 26, 1919 in Toledo, OH to Earl and Anna (Hecklinger) Potts. Frank was married to Dorothea Parker Potts from 1950-1978 and Jean Stickles-Doster Potts from 1980-2012.
In 1937 he graduated from Waite High School. He was employed at Save Electric for several years as a coil winder and then became a tool and die maker apprentice at Bingham Stamping. Frank served his country proudly while enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed on the LST 916 for 2 1/2 years as a MOMM 2nd class. After the service he was employed at: Bingham Stamping, advancing to the Engineering Dept. as a process engineer for 16 years, Peters Stamping Company, Perrysburg for 15 years as a process and chief engineer and then retired in 1984 from American Tool and Die as the General Manager for 11 years. His memberships included: Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Zenobia Shrine for 30 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo and Pemberville American Legion Freedom Post #183. In his spare time he enjoyed wood working as a hobby and sold a lot of his creations at craft shows.
Frank is survived by his daughters: Ellen Walston of Pemberville, Beverly (Mike) Conklin of Sylvania, Barbara (Marcus) Mikola of Holland, daughter-in-law: Rita Potts of Helena, grandchildren: Brent (Kelly) Sandberg, Justin (Melissa) Sandberg, Brad Potts, David (Linda) Potts, Heather (Tim) Zirkle, Scott Conklin, Rashelle (Jeff) Sorosiak, Rachel (Edwin) Gomez and Marcus Mikola, great-grandchildren: Lauren, Kate, Audrey, Mallory, Connor, Adam, Evan, Cierra, Pilar and Mario. He was preceded in death by his wives: Dorothea and Jean, son: Christopher Potts and brother: Melvin J. Potts.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 10-11 AM at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E, Indiana Ave, Perrysburg, OH where a memorial service will be conducted at 11 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Timothy Philabaum. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately follow the memorial services. Arrangements are being handled by the Marsh Funeral Home, Pemberville, OH.
