From GATHERING VOLUMES
PERRYSBURG — Gathering Volumes and Workman Publishing will present Victor Ciznek and Mathew Bucklan, authors of the latest book in the “Maps for Curious Minds” series. They visit Perrysburg on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. to discuss and sign copies of “North American Maps for Curious Minds.”
Did you know that North America is where the first T. rex was found? Or that it’s where you can visit the world’s biggest geode as well as its oldest, tallest, and largest trees—not to mention the world’s tallest and steepest roller coasters?!
Brimming with fascinating insight (Who is the highest-paid public employee in each state?) and whimsical discovery (Where can you visit the world’s largest island in a lake on an island in a lake on an island?), this book highlights the unexpected contours of geography, history, nature, politics, and culture, revealing new ways to see North America—and the hundreds of millions who call it home. Speaking of home, Victor Ciznek grew up in and still calls Northeast Ohio home, while Matthew Bucklan will be travelling in from the Milwaukee area!
“As a local bookstore, obviously part of our mission is introducing readers to authors, especially Ohio authors,” says Denise Phillips, owner of Gathering Volumes bookstore. “Add to that the fact that my previous career was in IT, working with data and you can understand how excited I am for the discussion! This book series is a great gift idea for family and friends that are into data analysis, and is also a unique gift for the hard-to-buy-for. Getting it signed by both authors is an added plus!”
