Guard jet fighters tip wings in honor of those battling coronavirus pandemic

Air National Guard flyover to honor health care workers in May, 2020.

Two jet fighters from the Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing flew over Bowling Green today (May 7) as part of a series of flybys to salute first responders at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19, and “to lift the spirits and morale of our fellow Ohioans.”

The two jets came in from the west and flew over the BG fire station at Pearl and West Wooster, then over the Wood County Hospital, and over the Police Division and Wooster Commons.

In announcing the flyby, the Guard stated: “The 180th Fighter Wing is honored to extend our salute to Ohio healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential personnel, as a small thank you for helping to keep Ohioans safe.”

All flights are being conducted in conjunction with regularly scheduled training missions.
