Hockey tournament to benefit Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Ohio will host the 6th annual Hockey for Habitat Fundraiser.

The event includes a ball hockey tournament, an online auction and, new this year, a raffle drawing for a 55 inch TV and other prizes. All funds raised from this event will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Wood County in its mission to help individuals and families secure decent and affordable housing through its new home construction and home repair programs.

Prior to the tournament, six hockey teams will compete in a fundraising challenge to determine the team’s position in the free agent draft. The free agent draft

will take place on Friday, Sept, 24, at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This year’s free agent players are Jeremy Bronson, Kyle Page, Kyle Rogers, Kyle Bonis, Evan Rankin, Iain Duncan, Taylor Raszka and Ryan Wichman from WTOL.

On Saturday Sept. 25, starting at 8:30 a.m.  the teams will play in a double elimination ball hockey tournament at BG City Park for the title of 2021 Hockey for Habitat Champion! 

At the park YES FM will be playing music and the State Bank GIVES Truck will be onsite as well! Come out to the park and watch the games while practicing social distancing.

The online auction is open and can be found on the Don Rose Auction website. This benefit auction features many local items as well as furniture and more. There is something for everyone.

The bidding will close on Saturday Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.

A raffle drawing for a 55-inch TV and other prizes will take place at the hockey event. Tickets can be purchased online right now through the September 24th or in person at the event.
