The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce’s Feb. 1 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Original Jac and Do’s Pizza in Bowling Green is one day shy of Groundhog Day. However, like the movie of the same name, the day represents its own kind of wash, rinse, repeat theme.

According to Tyler Householder, owner of Brewing Green and the new Jac and Do’s, Feb. 1 has a lot of significance for him and Jac and Do’s.

In addition to the ribbon cutting for Bowling Green’s newest pizza shop being on Thursday (Feb. 1) at 4 p.m., he and Clay DeVelvis, his cousin and partner, are celebrating the 2nd anniversary of when they purchased the buildings at 318 and 322 N. Grove St. and the same day they bought into the renowned Findlay-area pizza franchise.

The day they bought Jac and Do’s in 2022 was also the 50th anniversary of when Householder’s uncle Larry DeVelvis bought the franchise from the original Jac and Do’s.

Jac and Do’s building is on the right and Brewing Green is on the left.

When they bought the brewery, Householder knew that they would eventually bring Jac and Do’s to the North Grove complex. “It’s been in motion since 2022. We’ve done much of the demolition and construction of 318 N. Grove St. ourselves, converting the old Schwind Electric office and garage into a kitchen,” he said.

Because Jac and Do’s is a family-owned business, Householder admitted to eating the original pizza his whole life. Like most of his family members, he worked in the shop starting when he was about 14 years old.

He enjoys many of the other local pizzas that Bowling Green is known for, but he is confident that the Original Jac and Do’s will have a place in pizza lovers’ hearts and stomachs.

“With its extremely thin crust and unique spice blend in the sauce, it has its own niche,” Householder said. Thanks to the pizza shop’s more than 50-year reputation, there are already many people who are familiar with the quality of the pizza and the amount of toppings they use.

The Bowling Green business has been doing a “soft open” to prepare the kitchen staff for the ribbon-cutting event and beyond. The menu is largely the same as the original shop, but they plan to add a few items, such as chicken wings and homemade soft pretzels, that pair well with beer and wine.

“This isn’t the end of the vision for our site,” Householder said. “I want to keep the community coming and the local regulars, who have supported us from the start. We want to make it a family-inclusive community hub where people want to come.”

The hours for Jack and Do’s Pizza will be 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The brewery hours remain unchanged: 3 to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 3 to 11 p.m. on Friday, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday, which is also food truck Sunday.
