Jean Louise Hilty, 86, of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully at The Bridge Hospice Care Center on April 25, 2017. Jean was born on January 11, 1931 to Hazel Tucker in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised in Toledo, Ohio by her mother and loving grandparents, Martha and Edmund Meyers. She was married to the late Dr. Donald E. Hilty on December 14, 1962.
Jean received her nurse’s training from the Toledo Hospital in 1952 and later received her BSN from Bowling Green State University. She formerly served the patients at Wood Co. Hospital and cared for patients throughout Wood Co as a visiting nurse. Jean also frequently used her talents as a nurse to compassionately care for her friends and family members.
She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in many callings that include, but are not limited to: Primary President, Young Women’s President, Relief Society President, Compassionate Service Leader, and Family History Consultant.
Jean was a loyal friend who often took it upon herself to brighten the lives of others in their time of need. She blessed others with her caring nature, spirited sense of humor, and unwavering faith.
Surviving are her four daughters, Debra Henry of Modesto, CA, Cindy Lenahan of Rossford, Cheryl Patchett of Ripon, CA, and Wendy Hilty of Waterville; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter soon to be born.
A funeral service will be held on Monday May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1033 Conneaut Ave. in Bowling Green. Bishop Bill Mullins will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
