Following recent appointments by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees is welcoming two new trustees as the 2023-24 academic year begins.
Greenberg appointed as new trustee
Gov. DeWine appointed Phillip Greenberg ’02 of Hilliard, Ohio, to the BGSU Board of Trustees. Greenberg fills the seat vacated by former trustee Marilyn Eisele ’79, who ended her term on the board serving as chair.
Trustee Greenberg currently serves as chief of staff for JobsOhio, a private economic development corporation that acts as a catalyst for high-growth business investments and job creation in the state. Working closely with the DeWine administration, network partners and community business leaders, Greenberg ensures JobsOhio’s programs and development-ready sites empower world-class corporations, entrepreneurs and talented individuals can build and grow their businesses and careers in Ohio.
In his collaborative role, Greenberg provides guidance and counsel on the structure and delivery of strategic initiatives across JobsOhio’s 10 targeted economic sectors and engages with federal, state and local stakeholders to guide projects from proposal to completion. He also oversees the implementation of JobsOhio’s cross-departmental functions.

Rogers said. “Trustee Greenberg has contributed greatly to Ohio’s economic success and ensured our workforce is well-prepared to meet the demands of today and tomorrow. We appreciate Governor DeWine’s appointment, and we look forward to working with Trustee Greenberg in our mission to be a public university for the public good.”

Prior to joining JobsOhio, Greenberg served as a political and campaign finance consultant for more than 15 years.
He is a 2002 alumnus of BGSU, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism and served as co-editor-in-chief of The BG News during his final semester at the University.
Greenberg’s term as trustee ends in 2032.
Nemeth named undergraduate student trustee
BGSU sophomore Cole Nemeth was appointed by Gov. DeWine to serve as undergraduate student trustee, filling the seat vacated by Joshua Auten ’23.
A Bowling Green, Ohio, native, Nemeth studies nursing in the BGSU College of Health and Human Services and serves as a student leader in the Chapman Learning Community, which teaches students how to collaboratively work with local and regional nonprofits to help those in need.

Additionally, Nemeth is involved in the National Residence Hall Honorary and Residence Student Association and is a member of the BGSU Men’s Chorus and Omicron Delta Kappa Fraternity.
“BGSU is defined by our students and the University must continue to support and empower them to be successful,” Rogers said. “Trustee Nemeth has been engaged in our learning community, and I look forward to the student voice and perspective he will bring to the board.”
Nemeth’s term as undergraduate student trustee ends in 2025.
