John R Isaacson

John R. Isaacson, 84, of Bowling Green, Ohio entered into the presence of his Lord December 19, 2019 surrounded by his children, granddaughter and great-grandson. He was born May 12, 1935 in Saskatchewan, Canada to the late John W. and Lorena (Hansen) Isaacson, who emigrated from Sweden. John married Sandra Jean Hales on July 31, 1959 and she preceded him in death September 15, 2015.

John grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and loved spending time traveling to see his family. He attended four colleges and moved to Bowling Green in 1972 to enter grad school at BGSU. He was a math and chemistry teacher at Hillsdale H.S. in Hillsdale, Michigan, Baptist Christian in Cleveland, Ohio, Fremont H.S. in Fremont, Ohio and Emanuel Christian in Toledo, Ohio. Later in life, John worked at Chrysler Machining then GKN Powdered Metals. After retiring, John, delivered the Sentinel Tribune for several years to Cedar Park and Chauncey Pointe.

John loved cycling with his children and grandchildren and competed in road races and adventure races with them. He was a member of the Adventurer’s Cycling Club in Bowling Green and an avid Michigan Wolverines fan. He loved all kinds of technology. He learned to use a laptop and Kindle and wrote a daily blog to update his family.

Since 1969, John was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bowling Green where he served in numerous roles as deacon, Bible teacher, camp counselor and janitor.

He is survived by his children Mark (Karen) Isaacson of Jamestown, Ohio, Marcea (Robert) Ustler of Apopka, Florida and Larry (Ann) Isaacson of Wyoming, Michigan, grandchildren Keith, Kevin, Kara, Andrew, Nathaniel, Ian and Evan, great-grandchildren Caleb and Elizabeth and his brother Leonard Isaacson of Port Huron, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 26, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. His funeral service will be held Friday December 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 749 S. Wintergarden Rd. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Pastor Tom Mullins will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green. Additional visitation will be held Friday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m.
