Joy Lee Rush

Joy Lee (Fraley) Rush, 78 of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Joy was born on November 7, 1939 in McGuffy, Ohio,  the sixth child of ten to the late Dan and June (Watson) Fraley.  She met the love of her life Wayne Rush in 1958 on their senior class trips on the train from Washington D.C. to New York City, they later married on February 7, 1960, Wayne preceded her in death on November 20, 2013.

Joy is survived by her daughter: Jacquelyn (Michael) Willmarth, of Bowling Green, Ohio, sons: Jeffery Wayne Rush, of Bowling Green, Ohio; Scott Alexander Rush, of Groton, New York; a daughter-in-law: Maricelda “Mardi” (the late Haven Rush) Lasoya-Rush, of North Baltimore, Ohio; special nieces who were like daughters: Glenda Rush, Marie Baumlein and Bonnie Gerken; great nieces and nephews who considered her as grandma: Amanda Rush, Tracie Wilhelm, Matthew Rush, Daisy, Fred, David, Haven Khoal Wright along with their children: Zeke and Isaiah Gonzales and Elianna Rush; sisters: Shirley England, of Kenton, Ohio; Susan (Steve Spearman) Fraley, of  Boulder City, Nevada; brothers: Bill Fraley, of Kenton, James Fraley, of Findlay and Carl Fraley of Kenton, Ohio.   Along with her parents and husband, Joy was preceded in death by a son: Haven Lee Rush; brothers: Loren and Johnny Fraley and sisters: Barb Collins and Doris Shepherd.

Joy worked at almost every restaurant on Main Street in Bowling Green at one time or another as a waitress and manager, including Woolworth’s Roger Drug, Corner Kitchen, Corner Grill, Murphy Mart, K-Mart and Frisch’s.  However her favorite and longest was at the Pheonix Palace and China Dragon for the Tam Family.  Joy worked for the Tam family for over 20 years and they treated her like a member of their family.  Joy also worked in their restaurants in Napoleon, Ohio and Angola, Indiana.  Joy loved to travel and the Tam Family took her to China, Hong Kong, Florida, New York and a cruise to the Bahama’s.  Joy also enjoyed babysitting the Tam children who she considered her adopted grandchildren.

Joy had many hobbies and interests, however her favorite pastimes were collecting Barbies and foreign currency.  She loved going to auctions, flea markets and casinos.  Along with her travels with the Tam Family, she visited Canada, Mexico, Japan and 38 of the 50 states, even living in Hawaii for 14 months.  However above all these pastimes, she loved her family and enjoyed when the family got together for reunions.

Visitation for Joy will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 11:00 AM until the time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio, 43402, Tele: 419-352-2171. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green.
