Karen K Herr

Karen K. Herr, age 81, of Jerry City, Ohio passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green.

She was born on April 4, 1942, in Fremont, Ohio to the late Donald R. & Pearl V. (Entsminger) Ickes, Sr. Karen married James Ray Herr on July 30, 1960, in Bradner, and they later divorced. James preceded her in passing exactly 44 years prior on April 21, 1979.

Surviving Karen is her son, Terry Herr of Risingsun; daughters, Denise (Jeff Dick) Yarger of Jerry City, Jamie Sarver of Bowling Green; brothers, Don (Shirley) Ickes, Jr. of Pennsylvania, Thomas Ickes of Carey; sister, Teri Ickes Cassidy of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Nicole (Matthew) Ohms, Melinda (Michael) Norton, Jeffrey (Cindy) Herr, Angie (Nick) Clark, Craige (Jamie) David; great-grandchildren, Paige, Courtney, Ali, Lainee, Chase, Bryson, Logan, Connor, Kenleigh, Everly, Lincoln; great-great-granddaughter, Amariana.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald; mother, Pearl (Roy) Lynall; daughter-in-law, Carol “Chris” Herr; and brothers, Keith & Dennis Ickes.

Karen was a 1960 graduate of Gibsonburg High School, and then worked 37 years from 1969-2006 at Budd Company. Among many hobbies over the years, she enjoyed playing bingo, going to county fairs and visiting with friends, and had a passion for dancing and two stepping. Her greatest love in life though, was spending all her time with family, attending her children & grandchildren’s activities & sporting events, and camping.

Karen’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Bev Noble for being the most wonderful caretaker and friend to Karen.

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Dawn Morton officiating. Burial will be at Bradner Cemetery with a bereavement luncheon to follow at the Risingsun Park Community Building.
