MFA graduates exhibit art in Resilience show

Work by Delaney MeSun Shin & Pegah Kazemi in 2023 MFA exhibit Resilience

The four 2023 graduates in the BGSU School of Art’s Master of Fine Arts program are featured in Resilience, an exhibit now on show through Sunday, April 23.

The MFA graduates are:

‘Remarkable’ by Amanda Gargac

Amanda Garcac. The artist displays in “Unremarkable,” 10 acrylic paintings that present a personal narrative about her struggles suffering from fibromyalgia. “My work attempts to make sense of the nightmares that have consumed my life living with an invisible chronic illness.”

Hanging fabric work by Delaney MeSun Shin

Delaney MeSun Shin. Through her hanging fabric work in “Honoring the Unforeseen” she explores her experience of being biracial and the interconnections of “feeling as if I’m not fully being seen and accepted.”

‘August 14th, 2007 Lady Club’ by Bethany Buchanan

Bethany Buchanan. The artist constructs her work from paper objects, many found, “to give the impressions of time and fleeting moments of reflection.” Her collection “Pulling heads” explores her ties to her Midwest family and memories her Midwest upbringing.

‘All I Know About Nietzsche’ by Pegah Kazemi

Pegah Kazemi. The actress and artist presents a series of self-portraits in oil reflecting on pop culture, fashion, and body image.

Gallery hours are Saturday   11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  and Sunday 1-4 p.m.
