Larry Taber Williams, 74, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Tuesday January 28, 2020 after a long fight with cancer with his family by his side. He was born November 5, 1945 in Clyde, Ohio to the late Gerald and Betty (Taber) Williams. He married Marcia (Spears) Williams on August 2, 1969 and she survives in Bowling Green.
Larry joined the Navy out of high school and spent 4 years serving in Puerto Rico where he soon found his life -long love of Ron Rico Rum (even naming his cats Ronnie and Rico). For many years he enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and playing golf with friends. He spent most of his working life in the restaurant and bar industry with most notably his years in Bowling Green with Quarters. He made many long-lasting friendships there and continued to play pool with them even earning the nickname Papa Shark.
He was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan with his consistent and loyal dedication to the teams even when they did not win. He was so disappointed in not seeing the Browns go to the Superbowl in his lifetime, but he was especially thankful for so many things and most importantly his wife of 50 years, Marcia.
Along with his wife Marcia, Larry is survived by his children Jay Williams (Paula) of Bowling Green, Michelle Dunn (Chris Robinson) of Clinton Township, Michigan and Larry Williams Jr. of Worcester, Massachusetts; grandchildren Brittany Meronk, Jessica Williams, Andrew Williams, Maddy Dunn and Eric, Shane and Ashley in Massachusetts; great grandchildren Carson Stairhime and Trevor Meronk; and sister Sheri Williams of Fairfield, Ohio and brother Roger Williams of Trophy Club, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his brother Brian Williams and sister Nancy Rogers.
Visitation will be held on Monday February 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday evening at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.
