I am writing to urge BG voters in Wards 3 and 4 to vote for Rachel Phipps and Jeff Dennis, candidates for BG City Council. Rachel is running in the 3rd Ward and Jeff in the 4th Ward. They will bring fresh new ideas, vision, and energy to City Council, to help us confront 21st century challenges to make BG more livable, prosperous, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of all our residents, young and old.
Rachel is trained as a lawyer with expertise in environmental and tax law. She is a mother of two young children and committed to improving our community. She recently served on the City’s Charter Review Committee. I have worked with Rachel on various projects promoting energy conservation and sustainability and will attest to her enthusiasm, energy, and creativity in approaching challenging problems. Most recently, we worked together to promote recycling at the Black Swamp Arts Festival. She will be a strong advocate for Sustainability Initiatives in BG.
Jeff is in his second year of law school at UT and will bring a fresh approach to City Council. Jeff has helped the BG’s East Side Residential Group understand the legal issues concerning how we can improve housing in BG. He has demonstrated both an understanding and an eagerness to learn more about the important issues facing our community.
Rachel and Jeff will work hard with the rest of City Council to make BG better for everyone. They both deserve your support – we need them both on City Council!
