Miriam H. Fouts, 92, of Tontogany, Ohio passed away Sunday January 28, 2018. She was born July 25, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Donald and Laura (Wichman) Draper. She married Ben Fouts in 1950 and he survives.
Miriam graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in 1946 and worked as a registered nurse for the Wood County Hospital, Wood County Health Department and also did home health care services. Following her nursing career, she and her husband Ben were the owners and operators of Fouts Cleaners, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the Tontogany Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and treasurer. She was a Girl Scout leader, involved with 4-H and was a member of the Tontogany American Legion Auxiliary. Miriam worked as a health team volunteer which helped the underprivileged. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a skilled baker, her specialties being apple pies and cinnamon rolls. Her family and friends will remember her as a compassionate, loving and giving person. More than anything, it was her love of God and her Lord Jesus which characterized how she lived.
Along with her husband of nearly 68 years, Ben, she is survived by her sons John (Diane) Fouts of Bowling Green, Ohio and Jim (Sandy) Fouts of Bowling Green, Ohio, daughters Mary (Bruce) Rohrbacher of Bowling Green, Ohio and Laurie (Dick) Wasserman of Burgoon, Ohio, sister Virginia Retzke of Bowling Green, Ohio, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Steve Fouts and brother Donald Draper Jr.
Visitation will be held Thursday February 1, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 18620 Washington St. Tontogany, Ohio 43565.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday February 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tontogany Presbyterian Church, 18740 Main Street Tontogany, Ohio 43565. Rev. Pamela Short will officiate. Interment will follow at Tontogany Cemetery. Additional visitation will be held Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
