More than 20 downtown BG business owners ask community to invest in school buildings

Dear Bowling Green residents and School Board,

We’re writing to express our dismay at the deteriorating state of our Bowling Green City School facilities, and we’re asking our customers and community members to join us in supporting a new initiative to invest in our school infrastructure.

Each of us owns a small business in Downtown Bowling Green.  We provide different types of services to our community: some of us cut your hair or make your coffee while we ask you about your day, and some of us offer legal advice or serve your favorite food or beverage.

All of us, and any potential new business owners, have at least one thing in common: we depend on strong Bowling Green City Schools to help us find, attract and retain employees for our businesses.  For us to thrive – or even to continue to exist – we need Bowling Green to be a healthy, growing city. That starts with an investment in new facilities for the Bowling Green City School district.

Growth requires investment, and it requires faith in a future yet unseen.  We embrace that dynamic as business owners, and we want to continue to grow our businesses and raise our families in Bowling Green.  We want the same thing for our employees – who also happen to be our friends and neighbors in this community.

This community is ready to thrive.  We need to invest in our shared future and address the condition of our school buildings.
