Naked man arrested this morning at downtown coffee shop

A naked man was arrested by Bowling Green Police Division this morning downtown.

Police received several calls around 9:25 a.m. about a completely naked man walking up and down the sidewalk in the 100 block of South Main Street.

 When an officer arrived downtown, several people pointed toward Grounds for Thought Coffee shop. The officer went inside and reportedly found a naked male sitting in one of the back media rooms. 

The 21-year-old man of Bowling Green, was kneeling at a desk listening to music on his phone. The officer noticed clothing folded on a chair, boots, and several books on the desk. 

The officer handcuffed the subject, wrapped a blanket around his waist, then walked him out to the patrol car. he reportedly told police he was not intoxicated and did not need medical attention. He also stated he did not want to harm anyone and did not want to talk to a counselor. 

The officer noted there was a child in the coffee shop at the time of the incident.

The officer also found a notebook that belonged to the subject, which included some statements about self harm.

The subject was charged with public indecency, likely to be viewed by a minor, and taken to Wood County Jail. The deputies were made aware of the concerning statements in his notebook.
