NAMI will sponsor the NAMI Peer-to-Peer Education Program specifically for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery.

The eight sessions start in Bowling Green on Tuesday, April 9, from 2 to 4 p.m., at The Connection Center, 309 S. Main St. The course will cover mental health treatment options, learning to set a vision and goals for the future, learning how to enhance communication skills, developing confidence for making decisions, how to practice relaxation and stress reduction tools, and how to strengthen relationships. The curriculum has been written by trained leaders with lived experiences of mental health and the course will be taught by NAMI Wood County instructors who have taken intensive training as course instructors.

The course is designed specifically for teenage, 18 and over, and adults who are living with a mental illness. The course provides an opportunity for mutual support and growth. Participants will experience compassion and understanding from people who relate to your experiences. This is a place to learn more about recovery in an accepting environment.

The NAMI Peer-to-Peer Education course is free. For more information or to register, go to www.namiwoodcounty.org or contact the Director of Programs at the NAMI Wood County office at 419-352-0626.
