One-vehicle crash results in impaired driving charge

A Bowling Green man faces an Operating a Vehicle Impaired charge following a one-car crash on South Main Street, Bowling Green, early this morning (July 30).

According to the BG Police Division, Anthony Joseph Ickes was operating a Jeep Renegade southbound on South Main near the intersection of Pearl Street at about 2 a.m., when he failed to maintain control of his vehicle. It went off the right side of the road first striking a light pole before hitting a fire hydrant.

The driver suffered minor abrasions to his arms and legs, but did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The BG police conducted a field sobriety test on Ickes, and charged him with OVI. He later submitted to a breath test, which registered 0.209.

He was released into the custody of a sober friend, police reported.

He was also ticketed for failure to maintain reasonable control.
