Among those participating in No-Shave November in honor of Kirk Cowan are (front row) Officer Ryan Sehlhorst, Officer Kallin St. John and Officer Kyle Wright, and (back row) Officer Tyler Lemke, Sgt. A.J. Cox and Sgt. Andy Mulinix.

Members of the Bowling Green Police Division are participating in a No-Shave November to raise funds for the family of Officer Kirk Cowan, who served the force for 20 years and died of leukemia in September.

Fourteen officers are foregoing shaving their upper lips this month, and donating money to the cause. Others in the police division are supporting with their donations.

Though officers are allowed to have mustaches, the division has traditionally been clean shaven, according to Lt. Adam Skaff. At the end of the month, awards will be given for the officers whose mustaches show the best effort, best style, or look the funniest.

Anyone from the public who wants to contribute to the No-Shave November event in honor of Cowan may contact Lt. Dan Mancuso at the police division at the non-emergency number 419-352-2571.

The goal of No-Shave November is to evoke conversations and raise cancer awareness.
