James Matuszak, Wood County Recorder, has issued an endorsement for Democrat Jeremy Schroeder to replace him in the Recorder’s office.
“In April of this year, I invited both candidates for Recorder to tour the office and ask questions,” disclosed Matuszak, “only Mr. Schroeder accepted the offer.”
“I hoped each of the candidates would take advantage of the opportunity to learn about the office they seek to manage,” cautioned Matuszak, “with the complexities of title fraud and foreclosure it is important to have a smooth transition.”
“It is in the best tradition of Wood County voters to pick the best candidate regardless of party affiliation,” Matuszak asserted, “Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn has set the standard, and I think it only best to follow his leadership.”
“The Recorder’s Office keeps over 700,000 land records,” Matuszak continued, “we are one of only a dozen, or so, counties in Ohio that indexes the documents geographically, and it’s important to know why that is important.” Most other Ohio counties use grantor/grantee indexing which can be difficult to use in rural areas.
“The office of Recorder was the first state office established in Ohio,” Matuszak added, “keeping a clear record of land title is essential to maintaining home values.”
“Wood County has been the Gold-Standard in land records management for decades,” said Matuszak, “and I want to do all I can continue to maintain that standard.”
“To be clear, Mr. Matuszak stated, “I believe that it would be appropriate for all voters to support Mr. Schroeder.”
