Retired scientist explains need for new high school with well equipped and designed classrooms

Dear Bowling Green community:

As a graduate of BGHS and a career research scientist, I am supporting the proposed new Bowling Green High School Bond Levy.

Throughout my 40+ year career, I have worked with many students from a variety of different communities and schools. I can attest to the fact that a well-appointed school provides optimum conditions for students to flourish when entering the rigors of any college or secondary educational program.

In regard to careers in science, this means access to a well-designed and appropriately equipped science laboratory classroom. Students with early access to some of the basic equipment, procedures, and protocols associated with today’s sophisticated scientific methods have a much better chance of matriculating to rigorous scientific programs as they enter their college programs.

It only stands to reason that all students pursuing any avenue for post high school education or employment benefit from an instructional institute with the highest quality design and equipment. Vocational and skill-based occupations also utilize a variety of sophisticated equipment and applications today. Access to modern infrastructure with safe and well-designed classrooms for learning and developing the skills necessary to succeed in a career path is essential to keep Bowling Green students competitive for any post high school pursuit.

Let’s provide the best level of opportunity we can for the children of Bowling Green by updating our instructional institute now. Vote YES for our schools on November 7th.
