Robert ‘Bob’ Sibbersen

Robert “Bob” Sibbersen, age 84, of Perrysburg, OH passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital, Maumee, OH. He was born on December 12, 1932 in Lake Township, OH to Clarence S. and Gladys V. (Furry) Sibbersen. On September 13, 1952 he married Jane Schober in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, OH. Bob and Jane knew each other from childhood, were confirmed together at St. John’s Lutheran Church and both graduated from Lake High School in 1950. While in high school heplayed baseball and was a member of FFA. Along with others he farmed the airport acreage in the 1940’s with surplus WWII Jeeps pulling farm equipment.

Bob was a life long farmer residing on his family’s farmstead which was purchased by his great-grandfather in 1874 and he and his mother were born in the house that was built by his grandparents. During his teenage years he took over the responsibilities of running the farm and continued into his 80″s with his late son Keith and then his grandson Scott. In the 1950’s he was a 4H advisor. He was an innovative farmer being one of the first to construct surface drainage in the 1960’s. Bob was a grain and livestock farmer, feeding both cattle and hogs. In later years he enjoyed displaying antique tractors with his brother-in-law Lee.

He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, former congregation president, Sunday school teacher and assisted with the church food pantry. His other memberships included: past president of Wood County Cattle Feeders, Farm Bureau and charter member of Golden Seaway Farm Bureau Council which lasted 50 years, S.C.R.A.P. and NRA. He served on several board of directors: Farmers Savings Bank and later advisory board of Sky Financial, Luckey Farmers and county committee of Farm Services.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Jane, sons: Mike Sibbersen of Bowling Green, Paul Sibbersen of Bayonne, NJ and Jeff (Chris) Sibbersen of Pemberville, grandchildren: Julie (Rick) Blackmore, Kari (Brian) Hatfield, Scott (Andrea) Sibbersen, Samantha Sibbersen and Ian Sibbersen, great-grandchildren: Kaelei Blackmore and Paige Blackmore, daughter-in-law: Dianne (Tom) Waldock of Bloomdale, nieces and nephews: Jean (James “Skip”) Gianfagna, Bob (Milissa) Merritt, Mark (Melissa) Randolph, Cindy (Tom) Nagelhout and Tammy (Kevin Cutsinger) Merritt. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Keith Sibbersen and sister: Donna (Bob) Merritt.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 1-3 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5520 Fremont Pike, Stony Ridge, OH with a memorial service beginning at 3 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Cindy Ritter. Refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the memorial services. Interment will be private in Lake Twp. Cemetery, Walbridge, OH. Arrangements are being handled by Marsh Funeral Home, Luckey, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to: St. John’s Lutheran Church.
