Closure tide turns, BGSU will resume normal operations

Bowling Green State University will resume normal operations effective Friday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m.

In-person and virtual programs and events will continue as planned, including athletic events.

“BGSU thanks the essential staff that worked tirelessly over the past several days to ensure our campuses were safe and ready to reopen,” the announcement of the reopening said.

BGSU had been closed Thursday and today due to drifting snow, the unpredictability of snow emergency levels in Wood and surrounding counties, and hazardous road conditions.

BG city offices will close Friday

Due to inclement weather and worsening road conditions, all City of Bowling Green non-24-hour facilities, including the City’s Administration Building and the Community Center, will be closed to the public on Friday, Feb. 4. 

City staff will continue to work during this public closure and will be available to answer phones and emails and provide support for all essential operations.

County offices will remain closed Friday

Due to the weather conditions the Wood County Offices and Departments will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4.

Health Department extends closure through Friday

The Wood County Health Department and Community Health Center building will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4 due to inclement weather.

Public library will be closed all day Friday

Due to winter weather, both Bowling Green and Walbridge locations of the Wood County District Public Library will be closed Friday, Feb.4.
The library was planning to open at noon.

The library was closed today (Feb. 3) because of the storm.

Bookmobile and Outreach services are not opening and will resume on Monday, February 7.
While the library is closed, patrons are invited to use WCDPL’s eMedia resources, which are available 24/7 with instant access to movies, music, books, audiobooks, and more.

BG schools shuttered the rest of the week

Bowling Green City Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday due to the winter storm.

All practices, games, and events are canceled for Thursday.  In an email to families and staff, Superintendent Francis Scruci said he will make a determination on Thursday afternoon about Friday evening and weekend events. 

Schools were also closed Wednesday in anticipation of the storm.

BGSU closed

Bowling Green State University’s Bowling Green campus closed Thursday (Feb. 3) due to predicted high winds, continued snowfall and severe winter weather. 
All classes, including in-person and online, are canceled on the Bowling Green campus. All events and student activities are also canceled.

Park district properties closed because of unsafe conditions

Wood County Park District properties will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3. Ice and snow accumulations have created unsafe conditions.

The park district is working to open the parks and preserves as soon as possible.

Committee on Aging will not deliver meals Friday; senior centers remain closed

The Wood County Committee on Aging will not deliver home delivered meals on Friday, Feb. 4 due to the record breaking snow and frigid temperatures in the forecast.  This decision is made for the safety of our seniors, the volunteers who deliver meals throughout Wood County, and our drivers. A total of 27 routes are delivered Monday through Friday serving more than 575 homebound seniors daily.  All home delivered meal clients will receive a phone call from their driver (before 10 am Thursday) to check on their well-being.

All home delivered meals clients were provided two shelf stable meals in October and November 2021 for their use should WCCOA be unable to deliver for a day.  Additionally, with the advance notice of the weather, all clients were offered an additional frozen meal,

Health Department office & health center closed

The Wood County Health Department and Community Health Center Building will be closed on
Thursday, Feb. 3 due to anticipated inclement weather.
With the building closure, the vaccine clinic planned from noon to 3 p.m. this Thursday has been
canceled.

Water & sewer district office closed Friday

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District (The District) main office will be closed again on Friday, Feb. 4, due to weather.  Customers can use the online and automated phone pay options during this time. More information is available on the website at NWWSD.org.

Water and sewer services are a 24/7/365 operation.  While the offices may be closed, the district can still be reached in an emergency.  Contact your local county sheriff’s department for a licensed operator to be dispatched.

BGSU composers concert canceled

The Faculty Composers Forum scheduled for tonight at BGSU has been canceled.

Kasler’s show at Arlyn’s postponed

The jazz performance by the Ariel Kasler Quintet at Arlyn’s Good Beer tonight has been postponed.

Museum closed until Monday (updated)

The Wood County Museum will be closed to visitors and volunteers due to frigid winter weather expected Feb. 2-6. The Museum will reopen on Monday, February 7th for normal business hours.

BG Planning Commission meeting canceled

The City of Bowling Green Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. has been canceled due to the incoming winter storm.  The agenda items will be moved to the regularly scheduled meeting date next month, which would be Wednesday, March 2  at 7 p.m. 

Great Decisions virtual only

Due to the incoming inclement weather, the Saturday, Feb. 5 session of Great Decisions will be an ONLINE ONLY format. Participants will receive an automated call from the Wood County Committee on Aging to inform you of this change. This call will come from a Massachusetts number. 
On Friday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. participants will receive an email from the Wood County Committee on Aging with the Zoom link and class information.
