Thomas S Roller

Thomas S. Roller, 82, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Wednesday February 12, 2020. He was born February 1, 1938 in Dunbridge, Ohio to the late Thomas C. and Dora I. (Sullivan) Roller. He married Alyce (Amos) Roller and she survives in Bowling Green.

Tom was a 1956 graduate of Bowling Green High School and went on to attend BGSU. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He spent his entire working career at LOF in Rossford, Ohio where he was in charge of safety, fire and environmental. Tom was a member of Portage United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Maumee where he formerly served as Deacon.

He enjoyed hunting, which took him all over the United States and Canada. In 2007 he was invited to a sculpture’s meeting where he discovered a new creative interest in working with metal. His love of nature served in creating the cattails with lily pad flowers, the walleye fish, the rabbits, the roses and the tulips, along with other metal objects.

Tom has won the Best of Show Award, as well as the Best of Metal Award at the Tiffin Art Show. He has also won the People’s Choice Award two years in a row at the Bowling Green Art Walk.

Tom was a Master Mason in the Phoenix Lodge #123 in Perrysburg, Ohio, 32nd Degree Mason in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Toledo, a member of the Zenobia Shriners temple A.A.O.N.M.S. in Toledo, Ohio, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio the Fort Miami chapter #194 in Maumee, Ohio, The Wood County Shrine Club, a member of the Maumee/Bowling Green Elks Lodge #185, a life member of the North American Hunting Club and a former member of the Adams Conservation Club.

Along with his wife, Alyce, Tom is survived by his children Matthew (Nichole) Roller of Maumee, Ohio, Jennifer (David) Chontos of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jayne (Dr. Jack) Gaspari of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Alison (James) Zaleski of Toledo, Ohio, step-children Steven Graham, David Graham, Michael (Linda) Graham and Susan Graham (Brett Pogan). He is also survived by his grandchildren Madison, Benjamin, Anna, Joey, Abby, Zach, Zenonn and Gigi, step-grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Jennifer, Lindsey, Billy, Joel, Alison, Liana, Brayden and Maddie and 2 step-great-grandchildren Jackson and Addyson.

He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Roller and sister Mary Book.

Tom’s funeral service will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 W. Main St. Portage, Ohio 43451. Pastor Rosanne Kalinowski will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private for the family at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery where full Military Honors will be rendered by the Wood County Honor Detail. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Christ United Methodist Church or Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green.
