Tickets Available for HYT’s Sideways Stories

Submitted by HORIZON YOUTH THEATRE

Horizon Youth Theatre is proud to present Sideways Stories from Wayside School, based on the children’s books by Louis Sachar, adapted for the stage by John Olive, and directed by Keith Guion. The play will be performed November 8th and 9th at 7:00 pm and November 10th at 2:00 pm at Otsego High School.

The play takes place in the thirtieth floor classroom of Wayside School, where everything is sideways, exaggerated and very colorful. Based on stories from the three books by Louis Sachar, this school is anything but boring. Teachers turn students into apples, dead rats come to life as human, pigtails talk, and tornadoes strike the building that was accidentally built with its classrooms on top of one another rather than side by side.

The play features 22 student actors ages 8 – 11 from several area schools including Bowling Green Public, St. Al’s, and Montessori of BG; Perrysburg, Eastwood, and Otsego. The production team: Stephanie Harden and Jillian Fournier, stage managers; Christina Hoekstra, costumer (assisted by Pat Mahood); Tim Barker, tango choreographer; Rose Walters, crew queen; Katie Partlow and Bob Walters, props; Dan Stanton, set designer; Gray Frishman, light board operator; and Elizabeth Roberts-Zibbel and Shawn Douglass, producers.
