The City of Bowling Green’s second slow roll bike ride for the year, titled “Together We Ride,” will be held Wednesday, June 21.
The public is invited to join the ride as the city partners with the Wood County District Public Library for an evening filled with activities in celebration of the summer reading program.
This ride will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a Bike Repair Workshop, located in the library’s meeting room.
Participants will receive guidance on proper bike maintenance and tips on quick repairs like how to fix a flat, plus complete a bike safety inspection. The slow roll bike ride will begin and end in the library parking lot immediately following the workshop at 6:15 p.m. The storybook themed ride will feature Valerie Bolling’s book, “Together We Ride,” read by Maria Simon.
Rides are free, family-friendly, and open to everyone. Each rider is required to wear a properly fitted helmet and ride a correctly sized bicycle in safe, working mechanical order. It is highly recommended that young riders, not able to travel on their own, participate via a tow behind trailer or child bike seat.
These rides are meant to be more recreational in nature and will travel at a speed comfortable for all riders.
While designed for fun and exploration, the monthly rides also stress the importance of safe riding practices and responsibilities of riders while navigating city streets. Multiple trained leaders will facilitate the ride to ensure that all riders complete the route, including providing assistance for mechanical or personal issues that may arise.
Questions about this ride should be directed to the city’s Sustainability and Public Outreach Coordinator by phone at 419-354-6222 or by email at agamby@bgohio.org.
