Toledo man charged with two counts of assault in downtown parking lot

Bowling Green Police were flagged down Saturday around 2:30 a.m., by a group of people in City Lot 1, off East Court Street.

The group told police of two people being assaulted by a man wearing a green hoodie, with tattoos on his neck. An officer recognized the description of Lewis Hart IV, 19, of Toledo, due to an incident earlier in the evening.

In the first incident, around 2:12 a.m., Hart was given a criminal warning for disorderly conduct.

Downtown camera footage reportedly captured the assault. Hart was reportedly videotaped arguing with two women in a black sedan parked in the lot. Hart reportedly began kicking and punching her car, walked away, then ran back to confront a man, striking the side of his head. Hart then reportedly grabbed onto the sweatshirt of one of the women, struck her once, knocking her to the ground, then got on top of her and struck her again.

An officer located Hart, sleeping in the trunk of an unlocked SUV that was parked in the 100 block of North Main Street.

Hart was charged with two counts of assault, disorderly conduct with persistence, and underage under the influence of alcohol.
