Toledo Rep staging factory floor drama ‘Sweat’

The Toledo Repertoire Theatre will stage the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “Sweat” weekends Feb. 16-252024 on the 10th Street stage.

 Filled with humor and tremendous heart, “Sweat” by Lynn Nottage tells the story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together on the factory floor. But when layoffs and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, they find themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat.

The play will be presented Friday, Feb. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m., the following week on Thursday, Feb. 22 through Saturday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb 25 at 2:30 pm.

Directed by Liam Ellis, the cast includes Felicia Hill as Cynthia, Colleen Rafferty as Jessie, Samantha Rousos as Tracey, Jodie Summers as Brucie, Gary Insch as Stan, Liam Ellis as Evan, Justin Hogan as Oscar, J’taevious Rodgers as Old Chris (2008), Michael Davis as Young Chris (2000), and Ryan Harris as Jason.
