‘Warm the Family’ program accepting gently used coats for Salvation Army

Got any gently used coats just taking up space in your home? You could donate these coats to the Salvation Army of Wood County annual “Warm the Family” program.

The program will run from Sept. 29 to Nov. 17. Donations needed are for both male and female, all ages and sizes. Gently used coats may be dropped off to one of the Long’s Sanitary Cleaners locations listed below.

For its 42nd year, Long’s Sanitary Cleaners is the sponsor of the “Warm the Family” program by donating the dry-cleaning costs of all the gently used coats received.

People are asked to donate coats as soon as possible. Early donations will help children and adults stay warm yet this fall season.

“The need is real, and your generosity of decent gently used coats is greatly appreciated,” according to the Salvation Army.

Donated gently used coats can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Longs Sanitary Cleaners, 345 N. Maple St., Bowling Green
  • Sanitary Cleaners Inc., 225 Golden Gate Plz., Maumee

Anyone, businesses, churches or organizations wanting to donate new coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to the ‘Warm the Family’ program, overseen by the Salvation Army of Wood County, may contact Earlene Kilpatrick, Salvation Army volunteer at 419-601-0976.

Coats will be available to qualified applicants during The Salvation Army’s annual Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions, and throughout the winter season. For more information on receiving a coat or to learn more about The Salvation Army, and its annual Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions, contact the Bowling Green Service Center at 419-352-5918.
