Jeff Klein, Emergency Management Agency director for Wood County, has issued the following advisory:
The conditions have changed (improved) for Wood County today. Initially Wood County was in the “Slight Risk”, now we have been downgraded to “Marginal Risk” for severe weather today. NWS Cleveland has a chance for rain starting around noon with rain likely from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It would be expected the heaviest to be around the 3 p.m. time frame.
When the front arrives in our area, there is a concern for wind damage with a possibility for hail. Loose items outdoors should be secured and depending on the intensity we can expect the potential tree damage.
With many of us celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with outdoor activities, it is important to monitor weather conditions especially if you are outdoors. Do not wait until severe weather arrives to develop a plan of what you will do before. Make sure you know where the good weather shelters are near you.
We at the Wood County EMA wish you all a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend. We will be monitoring conditions and will provide updates should conditions worsen.
