Less is more … unless you’re expanding your business.
Bowling Green native and 2021 Bowling Green State University graduate Hannah Brose owns Wildflower Beauty and Aesthetics in the city’s downtown area.
While the business has always been located at 101 N. Main St., she recently decided to expand. With expansion comes many new services, adding to the already existing list of microblading, eyelash extensions and permanent makeup.
“The whole front of the salon will be a medical spa,” Brose said. “Once I start doing those services, we’ll be the only salon in Bowling Green that has a med spa.”
The services can look intimidating for someone who has never booked an appointment. So what do medical services actually do?
Microblading adds semi-permanent ink to the skin, usually for filling in eyebrows, and permanent makeup (despite its name) is not permanent. It does, however, last longer than the daily application of regular makeup.
To ensure these services can get offered, she is currently pursuing her masters of nurse practitioner at BGSU.
Initially, Brose was not on the path to medical aesthetics. She first pursued her bachelor’s degree in applied health science, graduating in 2021.
“I started working in hospital administration and I hated it,” she said. “I started doing this and I love it.”
“I don’t feel like I’m at work. It’s a good atmosphere.”
Brose returned to BGSU to pursue her bachelor’s in nursing and graduated last month. She has plans to get certified as a nurse practitioner in the coming year, which will jumpstart the medical spa plans.
While other Bowling Green salons offer similar services, Brose said that Wildflower stands out from the crowd.
“It’s a one-stop-shop for everything. I think that helps with setting us apart,” she said.
With plenty of surrounding bustling towns like Perrysburg and Findlay, Brose chose BG because she has a soft spot for her hometown.
“I have always loved how community-oriented BG is,” Brose said. “BG has a small-town feeling versus bigger towns like Findlay and Perrysburg.”
The business is open during renovation and will be hosting the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 101 N. Main St., on Tuesday (May 14) at 4 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres and raffles for salon services will be offered.
