From THE MID-AMERICAN REVIEW
Mid-American Review, BGSU’s international literary journal, will host the 24th Winter Wheat Writing Festival, taking place from Thursday, Nov. 7, Friday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 9 in the Education Building at Bowling Green State University.
The three-day event features generative writing workshops, readings, an open mic night at Juniper Brewing Company, a book fair, and other opportunities to connect with fellow writers.
This year’s festival promises a lineup of more than 35 workshops in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, among other topics relevant to writers of all experience levels. Participants can choose from a variety of online and in-person workshops, led by seasoned writers and literary
experts.
Winter Wheat is open to the public and free of charge. Members of the community are invited to register through the form on the website. Click to access.
The festival also features keynote speaker, Jennifer Pullen, author of “Fantasy Fiction: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology,” as well as BGSU faculty member Joe Celizic, who has been published, or is forthcoming, in The Threepenny Review, North American Review, Indiana Review, CutBank, and,Third Coast. Celizichas been shortlisted in Best American Mystery Stories.
The festival began at BGSU as one of the few festivals and conferences of its kind–an event designed around workshops in which writers craft seeds for new creative writing. Drawing more 300 participants per year, the festival also serves as an important reunion point for alumni of BGSU’s English Department, in addition to writers from the Midwest and beyond, some of whom have participated in almost all the Winter Wheat festivals of years past.
Winter Wheat is a key fixture in the Midwest Literary Community, and invites any interested writers to join
