Woman, who reportedly got in BGPD cruiser hoping for ride to a bar, ended up in jail

A Bowling Green woman reportedly got in a police cruiser Saturday evening, and asked the officer to take her to a bar. She got a ride to Wood County Jail instead.

A BGPD officer was conducting a traffic stop in City Lot 2, behind downtown businesses on the east side of the 100 block of South Main Street, around 7:14 p.m. The emergency lights on the police vehicle were activated.

When the officer returned to his patrol vehicle, he looked over his shoulder and saw a woman in the backseat of the cruiser with both doors closed.

The 22-year-old woman in the backseat reportedly asked the police officer if he would give her a ride to a bar. The officer asked the woman why she was in the cruiser, and she reportedly replied that she thought the police division provided rides.

The woman then got out of the car and started walking away. The officer put her back in the vehicle and escorted her to jail. She was cited for criminal mischief.
