Wood County Hospital has super-frigid freezer to store Pfizer vaccine

The Wood County Hospital is ready for the Pfizer vaccine.

The company announced last week that the vaccine has proven to be 90 percent effective in trials. One challenge, though, is it must be kept at super cold temperatures, minus-94 degrees Fahrenheit.

As part of setting up to do highly accurate and fast PCD tests for COVID-19, the hospital had to purchase such a freezer to store reagents. It will work for the Pfizer vaccine as well, reported hospital spokesperson Sara Meyer.

She added the hospital is in the process of buying a second freezer.

A second promising vaccine from Moderna does not to be stored at such cold temperatures.
