The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department has announced the return of the Jingle Bell Jam at the Veterans Building in City Park on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 1-4 p.m. Sponsored by the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Foundation, this family event celebrates the winter season with a variety of free, family-friendly activities.
Event schedule and highlights:
- Kids and family recreational games from 1–3 p.m., with holiday and winter-themed games in the atrium and patio of the Veterans Building.
- Holiday arts and crafts from 1-4 p.m. Gather in the programming room for quick holiday-themed arts and crafts.
- Free hot chocolate & cookie decorating station, from 2-4 p.m. Warm up with free hot chocolate and decorate a sugar cookie with frosting and toppings while supplies last, courtesy of the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Foundation.
- Jingle bell story time at 2 p.m. Cozy up for a special holiday story time hosted by the Wood County District Public Library.
- Santa Claus visit from 3-4 p.m. The man himself will make a special appearance to spread holiday cheer. Children will have the chance to get pictures and sit on his lap to share their holiday wishes.
- Musical performances from 3-4 p.m., featuring holiday caroling from Bowling Green City Schools’ talented young voices, including the Elementary School Choir, Bobcat Beats (3-3:30 p.m.), and the High School Madrigals (3:30-4 p.m.).
- Jingle Bell Jog at 4 p.m. Don your jingle bells and sneakers for a 1-mile run/walk around City Park. Registration and check-in begin at 3:15 p.m. in the Veterans Building lobby. The free event includes two laps around the park, with prizes for top finishers in the following age divisions: 10 & under, 11-15, 16-18, and older.
