From CITY OF BOWLING GREEN
The City of Bowling Green will be joining communities across the nation in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Throughout the year, residents and visitors are invited to commemorate this historic milestone through experiences and initiatives that honor the nation’s history, highlight local culture, and showcase the community spirit of Bowling Green.
Recognizing the importance of this moment in the nation’s story, Bowling Green is partnering with Wood County and a range of community organizations to coordinate meaningful, memorable opportunities for residents and visitors throughout the year. Partners include the City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Visit BG, Wood County District Public Library, Bowling Green City Schools, Downtown Bowling Green Special Improvement District, Bowling Green Economic Development, Bowling Green Community Foundation, Wood County Commissioners and Offices, Wood County Museum, Wood County Park District, and others.
Together, these organizations will provide programming designed to educate, inspire, and bring people together – honoring shared national heritage while celebrating the unique character and spirit of Bowling Green and Wood County.
To kick-off local celebrations, Bowling Green and Wood County will host a community celebration on Thursday, Jan. 8, from 6 – 7:30 p.m., in the atrium of the Wood County District Public Library. The celebration will include patriotic songs, a display of historical flags, and cupcakes provided by the Bowling Green Community Foundation.
Bowling Green Mayor Mike Aspacher, Wood County Common Pleas Judge Matthew Reger, and musical guest Reagan Otley will join the library as it celebrates America’s history. The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. For more information, call 419-352-5050 or email woodref@wcdpl.org.
