Two people from Detroit were arrested and a stolen $2,010 display screen was returned on Wednesday (Aug. 12) by Bowling Green Police Division.
At 6:47 a.m., BGPD was alerted to a business pickup truck being broken into overnight at a hotel on East Wooster Street. The rear passenger window had been smashed out, and a display screen was stolen. A nylon glove found next to the pickup was sent to a lab for testing.
A BG detective reached out to neighboring police divisions to see if any similar incidents had been reported overnight. Perrysburg Police Department reported it had arrested two suspects after a witness called about a break-in in progress.
Perrysburg Police stopped the suspects on Interstate 75, and found four Ram truck touchscreens in the vehicle, along with suspected criminal tools of gloves, a black beanie and screwdrivers.
Given the details of the suspect vehicle, Bowling Green Police checked the license plate reader cameras in the city and saw the suspects’ vehicle was on East Wooster Street at 3 a.m.
A BGPD officer went to the Ram dealership in the city and spoke with the parts manager, who was able to identify the parts number of the screen stolen in BG based on the truck’s VIN. That numbered screen was one of the four found in the suspects’ vehicle. The parts manager said replacing the screen would have cost $2,010.
The screen was returned to the person who reported the theft.
Henry Ford, 56, and Tralynda Rogers, 33, both of Detroit, were arrested for theft, vandalism and possession of criminal tools. They were taken to Wood County Jail.
