Ohio State Highway Patrol to host recruitment and aviation event

From OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

On Monday, June 22, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will host a recruitment and aviation event at the Wood County Regional Airport, located at 1261 E. Poe Road, Bowling Green.

The patrol is actively seeking driven, service-minded individuals. People can transform their talents into a career that serves and protects the people of Ohio. Whether someone is a natural leader, skilled communicator, technology enthusiast, or someone with a passion for helping others, the patrol offers a path to turn strengths into purpose.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m., where interested candidates will have the opportunity to talk with troopers about a career of service and see an OSHP aircraft up close. “One-stop testing” will be offered to prospective applicants, where they can complete an application, take the written test, and then move directly into the physical fitness assessment – all in one visit.

Those planning to attend should wear business casual attire and bring appropriate physical fitness clothing and shoes. This “one-stop testing” opportunity will allow prospective applicants to complete the first stages of the process and move forward toward securing a spot in the 181st Academy Class, which begins in September.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 20 and 39
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Have a valid driver’s license

For questions regarding this opportunity, contact Trooper Dalton Surbey at 419-957-9569 or Sergeant Dana Skinner at 419-619-1926.

The patrol also offers a ride-along program and those interested are encouraged to contact their local OSHP post to schedule a ride-along with a trooper during their shift.

Prospective applicants who plan on attending the event are encouraged to apply now, but the application can also be completed at the event. Text “JoinOSHP” to 614-654-OSHP anytime to get started.
