Bernard Roul “Bernie” Kirian

Bernard Roul Kirian, 87, of Bowling Green, passed away on August 16, 2016 at Brookdale nursing home.
Bernie was born in Rudolph, OH to the late William R. Kirian and Florence (Fox) Kirian on July 11, 1929. He graduated from Liberty High School. Bernie married Arlene Getz in 1950.

In the 1950’s, Bernie and his brother Gene opened Kirian’s Home Shop, and he continued on to open Bernie Kirian Floor Covering in the 1970’s. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Dunbridge Fire Department, was a long-time member of St. Thomas More University Parish, and enjoyed the Wood County Senior Center. He was devoted to his family.

Bernie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Arlene; daughters Teresa (David) Knisely of Risingsun, Rebecca (Robert) McOmber of Bowling Green, and Michelle (Michael) Chew of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren Lucas McOmber (Tara), Elizabeth Dishaw (Tom), Antony Knisely, Michael Chew and John Chew and great-grandson Liam McOmber; siblings Eugene Kirian and Patricia Kirian. He is preceded in death by his sister Betty Morrow.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 beginning at 1:00pm at the Dunn Funeral Home located in Bowling Green’s Historical District at 408 W. Wooster St. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time. Interment is at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery.
Those wishing to give an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Thomas More Parish or the Wood County Senior Center.
