From PROJECT H.O.P.E
A chili cook-off competition and silent auction event is planned to support the horses and operations of Project H.O.P.E., a nonprofit organization that works with children and adults through equine-assisted therapy.
The chili cookoff and silent auction event is Saturday, Aug. 29 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green Alliance Church, 1161 Napoleon Road.
Guests can choose to make chili, competing for one of five prizes, including the top prize of $100, or they can pay $10 admission to taste the chili and vote for a favorite recipe.
The event will feature more than 15 items in the silent auction. Among the items to be featured are:
- A marble horse statue
- Baskets from different manufacturers, including Dietsch Brothers Chocolate
- Quilts
- Tea
- Birthday parties
- Gift cards to various businesses
- Three necklaces by Aliza Greenberg, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor from her memories of the Holocaust.
Following the chili cookoff, a Bridge Benefit concert is planned until 7 p.m.
Entry to all three events is $10. All the proceeds from the day’s events go to feed and care for the eight rescue horses that provide over 800 hours of programming to children in the community.
