BG attorney & family friend attests to quality of Phipps’ professional experience & character

On November 5th, I will have the privilege of voting for Rachel Phipps as City Council representative for the Third Ward.

I first met Rachel over 12 years ago while she was a legal intern at our local prosecutor’s office. As a law student, Rachel was eager to develop her advocacy skills. She combined her energy and enthusiasm for problem-solving with exhaustive research and thoughtful consideration, seeking to balance individual interests with the greater societal good. Rachel has applied the same effective approach throughout her professional career, first in the public sector as an attorney in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s office and then in private practice with a focus on commercial contracts and estate matters.

To better address the broader implications of her client’s issues, Rachel sought additional expertise by earning an advanced degree in tax law. She is an effective communicator who not only expresses herself clearly but also listens with empathy and an open mind. Rachel makes the effort to truly understand all sides of an issue and remains respectful of opposing views as she advocates for a position.

Rachel embodies the qualities of a good friend and neighbor: honesty, integrity, kindness and respect for others, and a commitment to improving her community. Our young daughters are dear friends, and my family appreciates counting Rachel and her husband Ryan among our friends and as part of our proverbial village.

Rachel’s professional credentials and experience, combined with her impeccable personal character, will serve her well as a member of City Council. Her recent work on the charter review commission was just a small indication of Rachel’s ability to work collaboratively for the benefit of our City. Her work as a practicing attorney and her specialized knowledge of tax issues, enable Rachel to fully understand the City’s legal and financial responsibilities. Her expertise with environmental issues is invaluable in the areas of sustainability and safe, renewable energy.

Her commitment to making Bowling Green an even better home for our children gives her the drive and incentive to act in the City’s longterm best interest.

I am grateful for the opportunity to support Rachel in her campaign for Third Ward City Council, and I am even more grateful for the positive growth which she will undoubtedly bring to Bowling Green. I urge other Third Ward residents to cast their votes for Rachel Phipps.
