The Bowling Green Area Community Bands will opens their 15th season celebration with “ Thankful Moments,” Sunday, Oct. 15, 4 p.m., in the Bowling Green High School Performing Arts Center.
Under the baton of Catherine P. Lewis, the concert band will perform “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss,” “Choose Joy;” “Blue Ridge Reel,” a medley from “Incredibles 2,” “Galop,” and “Raise your Joys and Triumphs High.” Local composer Lisa Galvin will join the band on the stage as she conducts her 2023 composition titled “Skeemantics.”
BBiG Band BG, led by Rob Cintron, will perform the jazz standard “Autumn Leaves,” based onthe French song “Les Fuielles mortes” (The Dead Leaves)featuring soloists Joe Stribrny and John Kloor; “Early Autumn”featuring soloists Dan Schellhas, Lily Young, and Dan Van Vorhis; and the popular jazz tune “Birdland”featuring soloists Lou Best, Ken Zuercher, Dan Mrachko, and Brian Bushong.
Children are invited to wear a family-friendly Halloween costume and join the bands on stage for a special costume parade during the performance! Prizes will be given to all parade participants.
