Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the planning commission reviewed a request for annexation of 10.8 acres on Bowling Green Road East, east of the Meijer store. The property, owned by Richard and Judith Carpenter, currently sits in Center Township.

The owners need the property annexed because the cell tower recently constructed on the acreage needs city electric service, explained Bowling Green Planning Director Heather Sayler.

The planning commission recommended that City Council approve the annexation.

The commission also recommended that the site be given interim zoning of M-3 business park, since the property is adjacent to Wood Bridge Business Park.

In other business, the planning commission heard the request for rezoning of 1.4 acres owned by the city at 304 N. Church St., 316 N. Church St., and 305 N. Main St. The city has asked that the zoning be changed to B-3 Central Business District zoning for the construction of the new city government building.

A public hearing on the rezoning request will be held at the next planning commission meeting on April 7.

The commission also heard the annexation request for 18.5 acres off South Wintergarden Road, from Plain Township. The annexation, petitioned for by the city and Carlene Creps, involves property adjacent to Wintergarden Park. A public hearing on this request will also be held on April 7.
