BG Police and Fire respond to driver reportedly passed out behind the wheel in middle of street

Bowling Green police and fire divisions responded to a report Friday around 5:30 p.m. of a man reportedly passed out behind the wheel of a car on East Wooster Street. Emergency responders found the driver in the left turn lane facing west at Campbell Hill Road.

Fire personnel parked a vehicle in front of the car, and pounded on the windows to wake Patrick Stein, 33, of Mount Vernon. When Stein exited the car he appeared confused and tired, the police report stated. He told police he had made a grocery delivery to Toledo and was looking for a place to take a nap on his way home.

Inside the vehicle, police reportedly found a marijuana grinder, a marijuana cigarette, a glass pipe, a clear plastic bag with a crystalline substance, and an open container of Crown Royal Whiskey.

A black safe was also found in the vehicle. Stein reportedly said he didn’t know about the safe and denied it belonged to him. On his key ring, police found a key that looked like a safe key. Stein reportedly told police the security key was given to him by a friend. After a few more questions, he decided he wanted to contact his attorney.

Stein’s blood alcohol content was well under the legal limit.

He was cited for impeding traffic, open container in a motor vehicle, drug paraphernalia with marijuana residue, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug abuse instruments.
