BG Police respond to teens reportedly shooting airsoft guns at person in parking lot

Bowling Green Police Division responded to Walmart, Monday around 5:37 p.m., for a report of kids shooting airsoft guns at people in the parking lot.

A man told police he was trying to fix his windshield wiper in the parking lot when he felt something hit his back. A few moments later he felt something again, but it stung that time. He told police he turned around and saw a car with kids parked across the median from his car. One boy was reportedly holding an airsoft style gun with an orange tip.

A person sitting in the man’s car said she saw the front passenger of the teen’s car holding a gun with the window down. The woman confronted the teens, who reportedly drove off and shot at her car a few times.

Police talked to the boys, one who is 17 and the other two who are 15 years old. Initially the teens said they all shot at the man, but later they said they shot at the car and didn’t think they hit a person.

Police recovered three Splat R Ball guns, which are plastic guns that shoot wet silicone beads at 200 feet per second, according to the police report.

Officers talked with the mothers of the three boys. The guns and ammunition were placed in police property, and the report was forwarded to the Wood County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for review.
