Bowling Green officials are looking for some help with a $2.6 million paving project stretching through the city on Ohio 64.

Bowling Green City Council will vote Monday evening on an ordinance authorizing the city to sign an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation on resurfacing Route 64, also known as Wooster Street and Haskins Road.

The legislation will allow for the city to participate in the ODOT Urban Paving Program. That program would fund 80% of the cost for the repaving of Wooster Street and Haskins Road.

The engineer’s estimate for the cost of the project is just over $2.6 million.

The project is planned to be done in two phases. The first phase is scheduled for 2021, and will cover East Wooster Street from Campbell Hill Road to the CSX railroad tracks. The second phase will cover West Wooster Street from Church Street to Haskins Road, then Haskins Road approximately to the city corporation line near Wren Road.

The city has asked ODOT to split the project in two so that planned utility work along West Wooster within this section can occur this year.

The ordinance on Bowling Green City Council’s agenda will allow the municipal administrator to advertise for bids and enter into contracts for the design, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, construction, and other services connected with the resurfacing of Route 64 through Bowling Green.

Also on Monday evening, City Council will hold the third reading on the following ordinances:

  • Approving the addendum to the memorandum of understanding and cooperative power supply agreement with Bowling Green State University.
  • Amending the zoning district map for the city of 2.76 acres of land located at the northwest corner of Thurstin Avenue and East Wooster Street, including the parking lot on Manville Avenue, from S-3 Planned Institutional and R-2 Single Family Residential Zoning to the Bowling Green Gateway Zoning District. A public hearing will be held on the issue prior to the council meeting on Feb. 1.
  • Rezoning of 0.14 acres located at 518 and 522 East Wooster Street, from B-5 Transitional Central Business District Zoning to the Bowling Green Gateway Zoning District. A public hearing will be held on the issue prior to the council meeting on Feb. 1.
  • Vacating an alley from Manville Avenue between Derby Avenue and Eighth Street. A public hearing will be held on the issue prior to the council meeting on Jan. 19.

Second readings will be given on the following ordinances:

  • Authorizing the utilities director to apply for a loan and execute an agreement with the Ohio EPA/Ohio Water Development Authority for Water Supply Revolving Loan Account funding for the design and construction of water main improvements in the Village Subdivision.
  • Authorizing the city utilities director to seek qualifications and enter into contracts for engineering services for the Village water main improvements.
  • Authorizing the city utilities director to seek qualifications and enter into contracts for engineering services for water and sewer improvements along West Wooster Street.
